Links of the Week (Week #53, 2005)
Due to an unexpected server hic-up my last links of the week for 2005 are acutally getting posted in 2006.
- Falling Sand Game - Bizarre game of manipulating falling sand (and other things). Reminds me of a little toy I had as a kid that was a mixture of water and colored sand. Every time you flipped it over you would get a new work of art. In this game you can do much more then flip it.
- TREASURE BOX - Speaking of bizarre games this is a bizarre little flash game. Reminds me of Monty Python.
- Firefox Myths - I like Firefox a lot. I love the extensibility. But I am still annoyed by the "Firefox: Safer, Faster, Better" logo. The better statement relies on the truth often first two. Safer is a joke. The only reason that Firefox appears safer is that it hasn't been targeted much by hackers (yet).
- VMWare: Virtual Machine Security Flaw 'Very Serious' - I think Virtual Machines are just about the coolest thing. From my single PC I can run different versions of windows or Linux without even rebooting. Better yet if you want to run an application that you suspect may contain spyware or a virus you can do it inside a virtual machine and keep your computer safe... usually. If you are using the free VMware player be sure to get the update to patch a serious security flaw that could allow software inside the virtual machine affect your host.
* Disclosure: The links presented here are links I recorded during my web surfing sessions. Often times these links were found on other sites and are presented here without credit. Those sites include, but are not limited to, digg.com, Slashdot, Drudge Report, and BoingBoing. *
