Links of the Week (Week #9, 2006)
Been so busy with my move to the new servers that I only collected a few links this week.
- A Thrill Ride to 'the Other Side of Infinity' - New York Times - University of Colorado Prof. used video game software to visualize travel through a wormhole.
- Apple - QuickTime - Download - Standalone QuickTime Player - Have you had to install QuickTime lately? I did and I was surprised that the QuickTime download site only offers QuickTime with iTunes 6. What? I don't need iTunes I just want to see a .MOV file. Good luck finding QuickTime alone. Well you are in luck... I found it.
- hypercubed.com | Web Safety Ratings from SiteAdvisor - Site advisor provides safety ratings for website by checking for spyware, viruses (or is it virii?), spam and scams. If you are unsure a site is legit or have questions about the software available for download visit this site. Please notice that the Hypercubed site is "green".
- Open Web Design - Search - Looking for a new layout for your website? Try the open web design search site.
- Quantum Physics Double Slit Experiment - What The Bleep Movie - Google Video - "Interesting" video discussing the famous double slit experiment. The video does a decent job explaining the experiment and the results but takes that last dreadful step that should be avoided.... philosophical interpretation. The video repeats the often repeated, even by scientists, misconception that somehow the presence a conscience observer modified the results of a scientific experiment. The interpretation that the conscience alters reality is pure mysticism and misinterpretations of quantum mechanics. It took me a little while before I realized the video was from What The Bleep... a movie created for the soul purpose of promoting new age mysticism. A movie that had been discussed previously by Skeptico.
